Beyond symbolizing "the power of three" as it does on the tv show "Charmed," it represents the threefold nature of the Goddess as virgin, mother and crone. As with many ancient symbols, it has many meanings and also symbolizes life, death, and rebirth as well as the three forces of nature: earth, air, and water.
