The original Venus of Willendorf was discovered in 1908 by the archaeologist Josef Szombathy near the town of Willendorf in Austria. Although the theory that the Venus of Willendorf is the Mother Goddess persists, in recent years the figurine has also been interpreted as a charm or amulet of some kind for women in connection with fertility. Size Approx: 1 3/4 inches tall.
